Review: The Daily Love – Growing into Grace by Mastin Kipp

Daily LoveDaily Love – Growing into Grace by Mastin Kipp

Published by Hay House

RRP £10.99

What It’s About:

Turn trauma into power.

To be human is to be in crisis. From our first breath, we trade the warm, loving embrace of the womb for the harsh realities of a situation we can’t possibly control. We seek solace from our suffering and look for wisdom outside the confines of dogma, but soon we’re drowning in vague spiritual lingo—intention, higher self, attraction, vibration—that’s poetry at best and manipulation at worst. We become so stuffed up with ideas of what is spiritual—doing vinyasas, attending seminars, being vegan—that we leave no room for Grace, that uncontrollable, benevolent power that wants to enter the world through and as you.

For Grace to unfurl in your life, you need to shake your foundations so the soil loosens, allowing devastating catastrophes to become wondrous opportunities. Spirituality isn’t about averting crises; it’s about making the cycle from crisis to Grace a little less bumpy. By identifying the patterns in your life, you’ll be able to figure out how to relax, find your power, learn from your difficulties, and allow Grace to enter.

Mastin Kipp knows a thing or two about the crisis-to-Grace cycle. In a matter of weeks, he went from being a hard-partying, 21-year-old vice president at a Hollywood record company to an unemployed, drug-addicted college dropout living in the tiny pool house of his ex-girlfriend’s parents. From rock bottom, he began his spiritual journey, learning from teachers like Tony Robbins, Joseph Campbell, and Caroline Myss, and his message of self-acceptance and service grew into his popular website, TheDailyLove.com. He offers no fancy degrees, just his life and his scars, which form a roadmap to help guide you through the uncertainty that lies ahead, marking where the cliffs are slippery, where the sun burns hot—and where Grace blossoms.

My Opinion:

I honestly am not sure where to begin this review. The book details in depth Mastin Kipp’s journey from rock bottom to where he is today. I honestly cannot fault his honesty, but I do have to wonder why so many self help ‘guru’s happen to be recovered drug addicts and then follow up with a book contract?

The book starts with Mastin talking about how he got started in the world of work – more specifically, how he was caught up in the glamorisation of the music industry. The more involved he became, the more hours he worked, and the more hours he worked, the more he became reliant on drugs to ‘get him through the day’. Now I have to say that I have very little sympathy for anyone who uses drugs and blames it on the fact of ‘needing something to get them through the day’. It really doesn’t wash with me. You know it’s wrong, so you shouldn’t don’t do it. Full stop. There is no room for manoeuvre for me. If that really pisses you off, then that’s your choice… I’m not going to apologise.

Anyway, Mastin talks us through his scepticism to new age funky dory stuff which I found certain aspects really resounded to me. Particularly when he said that sitting around with your guru on a meditation cushion doesn’t make you spiritual – and that he’d rather sit with someone who ate meat and drank coffee any day. HALLELUJIA someone who speaks sense! I have to say that’s what really stood out to me, I love how down to earth and straight up Mastin is throughout the book. I felt that I could sit down and have a conversation with him and although opinions would sometimes divide, neither would be entirely judgmental.

I got a little “lost” as I read about the Kundalini Yoga (isn’t all Hay House authors jumping on that train?!) and the running down of personal development (which by the way – I agreed with Mastin’s points on why the self help world can be very salesy!), but got utterly pissed off when he then back-tracked and decided that he was going to go down the route of doing what Tony Robbins does – the personal development- I had to wonder, what was it that REALLY called to him? I love Tony BTW – my Mum got me into his work years ago and I am a different person because of it, and I grow each time I re-visit and do UPW work.

My favourite part of the book was the last chapter where I truly heard the REAL Mastin Kipp, the one that really should do a follow up book that majors on this topic – because I for one can resonate with the Spiritual Entertainment business… It needs to stop. Mastin talks about how fear is not something to avoid but rather embrace because without fear we cannot change, we cannot grow, and I have to say “Thank You” to Mastin for putting into a book, what I’ve been saying for a while now – screw the bull sh*t of fear is the absence of love… and you must remove fear from your life. Fear is a basic human DNA imprint in us if you like, we need fear to survive. Fear is what gets things done, fear makes you feel alive, fear should be our best friend! So next time you read “Eradicate fear” – say “Bull sh*t!” and then do what Mastin says; Choose whether or not you want to stay in your comfort zone or not – comfort zone = eradicate fear, expansion and growth = embracing fear, and feeling fear.

For a first read, it wasn’t an utter failure… but I’m less than convinced… Maybe a second read-through with time and commitment I’ll grow into the book….and the book with grow with me.

Mastin is definitely one to watch, and as long as he stays true to himself and gives the two finger salute to following the coaching crowd and jumping on the “lets all promote each other” bus, I think Mastin is a positive force this world better be ready for.

Review: Guardian Angel Tarot Cards by Doreen Virtue & Radleigh Valentine

Guardian Angel Tarot Cards by Doreen Virtue & Radleigh Valentine

Published by Hay House UK

RRP: £ 15.99

My Rating: 5/5

The Low Down:

The World’s Gentlest and Sweetest Tarot Cards

After the successful launch of their bestselling Angel Tarot Cards, Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine knew that some people were still wary of tarot.

So they created this 78-card deck and accompanying guidebook for highly sensitive people who desire the accurate and detailed answers of tarot cards, along with gentle words and images.

Even sweeter than their other decks, you’ll find the Guardian Angel Tarot Cards a comforting and safe way to get clear answers for yourself and others.

My Opinion:

I have been looking forward to these sweet cards for a long time now so when they arrived I was beyond happy. They are very pretty, and very in keeping with a shabby chic home interior – seriously when I saw these I thought they would make perfect design pieces around the home as artwork.

Not at all like regular tarot cards, yet so much more than just oracle cards these are the happy medium for angel fans, tarot users, and metaphysical practitioners.

Unlike a regular tarot deck that features the likes of The Tower, The Fool, The Moon, The World etc, we have Letting Go, A New Beginning, Intuition and Insight ,Successful Completion for the Major Arcana.

The Minor Arcana has the following for suits;

Water – Emotions

Air – Thoughts

Fire – Action

Earth – Abundance

I love how these suits for the minor arcana fit perfectly with the simplicity that using the tarot has been for all my life. In fact I love how very uncomplicated these cards are, and rather than using them for clients, I have to say I would keep these as a personal use only deck, not because they wouldn’t be useful to clients, but because sometimes you have to put yourself first and embrace self care.

I cannot fault this deck at all. After a few hic-cups with recent decks that I’ve reviewed of Doreen’s I have to say that these cards are what put her back at doing what she does best, I just wish that at some point she’d assert her independence a bit more like she did in earlier days when her books, oracle cards etc are simply all her own work and not a collaboration.

Review: E-Cubed by Pam Grout

E-Cubed

E-Cubed by Pam Grout

Published by Hay House UK

RRP: £10.99

My Rating: 2/5

Following on from the hugely successful selling E-Squared, Pam Grout is back again with an anticipated book that offers readers more experiments to prove that the Law of Attraction works.

The Blurb:

In E-Cubed Pam takes you through 9 more experiments that will prove to you that thoughts create our world, including:

• Greeting ALL experiences with joy (that includes parking tickets!) to open you up to unlimited happiness
• Testing out the power of specific words for dramatic shifts in consciousness and manifestation
• Breaking out of the endless media cycle, and connecting with the world’s natural rhythms for abundance
• Giving up all attachment to money (even giving it away!) to break the cycle of small thinking and living

The universe is just waiting for us to catch up, just waiting for us to begin using the energy that has always been available for our enjoyment and wellbeing.

My Opinion:

When I first began reading this book, I was living in hope, in belief that this book would change my life. I had full on belief that the law of attraction was gonna deliver me some action! The lead up chapters to the experiments are so motivating and inspiring that you can’t help but be optimistic and walk around in a blissful state of “I’m going to manifest me up some awesome living”. It’s contagious!

However when it came to the experiments, in full admission they are really fun, and that’s how Pam wants you the reader to read this book, with a fun-ness and not a seriousness about attracting a great life experience. Sadly after attempting the experiments over a number of times, I’m still waiting for my huge list of manifestations from experiment 2 (a list that Pam gives you – no doubt to add to the publicity for “we’re all in this together” to make the book one of the most talked about in 2014). No number 222, no favourite song from high school, no older person in a fabulous hat… nope nadda nothing. And believe me I stayed open to the manifestation, I even forgot about it at one point. The same thing happened for all the experiments.

No doubt there will be some “Woo-woo” explanation as to why I just wasn’t in the zone… not on my meditating cushion enough, not positive enough… heck I probably wasn’t breathing the right percentage of oxygen in as I was breathing out and it messed up the scientific of the manifestation… but ya know what… I was as positive as I could be, and I lived in hope, in expectation and it failed to deliver. It is for that reason I give it 2/5. Had it been the book minus experiments, it would have got a 4 or 5/5

But, I do want to say how this book (without the experiments) for me is still a book of hope and positivity. Reading the chapters minus the experiments will provide you with real go getting feelings and positive belief. It gets you in the place of believing that good things can happen, that good things do happen, and that good things can and do happen to you. You just have to open to them, and leave life to sort it out for you.

I know for certain that if people put the same sheer effort and focus into their everyday normal living as they do in hoping and praying and practicing countless “cool” spiritual “trends” then they would be living a fantastic life. Believe in yourself. Believe in your life and just have some damn fun! Stay true to your dreams and be pro-active about them. Toss the meditation cushion in the bin, quit with all the spiritual clap-trap that’s going around, (not saying to stop – just cool it a little you know – don’t be so crazy with it) and you will find that you’re already living a pretty amazing life!

It’s Time To Get In The Vortex to find Love, Happiness, Abundance

I am a huge believer and user of Abrahams teachings from Esther and Jerry Hicks, and really got into the use of them last year. I became hooked on getting into my vortex after reading THE VORTEX and applying it instantly. Within days of starting to read the book I had an intuitive knowing that it would only be a matter of weeks before I would be in the throws of a new relationship – even though there was no man on the horizon.

It was only two weeks later – like Sandra Bullock in “Two Weeks Notice” (a fave movie of mine), the Universe had given me two weeks notice… that I met a man who to me matched everything that I had placed in my vortex. That relationship started off amazing as I stayed within my vortex, acting out of my vortex and embracing my vortex. Did I mention that I love my vortex? However due to growth and change in my life, the relationship came to an official end in February… days before Valentines Day… I called the shots and surprisingly wasn’t all that hurt by the end of it. Why? Because I knew, I embraced the fact that he was no longer in my vortex nor did I wish to be dancing in my vortex with him.

However, what the key message is here is that

THE VORTEX METHOD WORKS…. IT REALLY WORKS!!!

What is The Vortex?

In the words of Abraham, the Vortex is a swirling mass of co-operative components that come together and manifest in your life. Everything that you’ve ever wanted, everything you’ve ever desired to feel, see, taste, touch, be, have, live, try, experience… everything that resonates with you is in your very own vortex. Here’s my 101 on the Vortex: So you see yourself with a luxury yacht (I know I do!) well… your vibrational self is already living there with your luxury yacht… it’s in your vortex, you just have to align with that vibrational version of your self and get in the vortex and then you find that you are with your luxury yacht!

So I am beyond thrilled that Esther and Hay House brought out a deck of cards based on The Vortex Teachings from Abraham. I got my manifesting hands on them and now I use them religiously every day to find out;

IMG_20140802_105020

“What can I do to get in my vortex, and manifest my vortex filled life?”

Every day I pull a card and it makes sense for my thoughts of the moment, carries me through my day and has really helped, and been uber productive at helping me in-still a positive mind-set. I’ve posted a couple to my new Instagram account which people have loved… even extremely successful Business Woman are loving these cards… which I discovered via my account on Instagram! It’s not surprising really as don’t we all want to be living from our Vortex?

IMG_20140802_105100 IMG_20140802_105131

If you are on the lookout for something to help get you fired up for the day, then I would absolutely without a shadow of a doubt recommend these cards. Get in Your Vortex…. NOW!!! And manifest a life beyond your wildest dreams!

The 2 Magic Words That Will Change Your Life

imagesI0IJ8NQS

The start of July began with my private coaching group focusing on Living from the Light Within, and then as we were getting into the groove…. the doodah wotsits hit the fan. My broadband went down, and I’ve been without internet. I had a new phone line installed along with a new router and it all failed. So I had to abandon my group (who have been so understanding and supportive during my technical hitch – thank you lovely people, I love you!) and I began to face some very nasty demons.

You see we have become so reliant on technology and it upsets me that we begin to lose a grip on life when this is taken from us. Anyway, I started to find that because I had this black box flashing “FAILURE” at me… literally…. I was feeling more and more rubbish about myself, and my life.

I luckily have a really good friend who is also a coach and we text daily and she has allowed me the space to vent my anger, frustration, self pity, fear, sadness…. you name the emotion and I’ve felt it this past fortnight. My Mum ( I have no idea how she’s put up with me) has been a rock to me. She’s allowed me to literally scream, shout, cry my heart out and admit some very painful truths about myself. It’s been deeply cleansing.

During my testing moments I’ve noticed that two words have the power to change you life and those of people around you. I have seen shifts occur right before my eyes – not instantaneously, but in a short space of time, the grump became the happy lump!

Let me explain,

We have always had lovely postmen, in fact one of our recent postmen was a sweetheart, he would carefully deliver packages to me (marked Hay House!) and he’d knock the door and say, “Morning, I have a special delivery for you and I didn’t want it to get damaged” and he’d hand over my Press Releases with a smile. If I wasn’t in to accept he’d put them somewhere super safe like behind a certain bush/plant in my garden and leave me note saying, “I’ve left you a gift behind the lavender” or “The special package is with the fern”. So we’ve been super lucky to have such a lovely postman. However. It all changed. We got a new postman and he was such a grumpy, moody so and so. I actually found myself moaning about him.

Then, my Mum said, “let’s try something different. let’s try and make his day.” SO I watched eagerly as my Mum was determined to turn this grumpy so and so into Mr Happy. Each and every day that he posted mail, even without knocking the door with a delivery she’d shout “THANK YOU” and over time his responses went from;

  • (groaning under his breath)
  • OK
  • It’s Ok
  • Ok Love
  • You’re welcome
  • It’s a pleasure

And recently we’ve had “It’s ok Love, have a nice day” and a giggle as he heard my Mum shout Thank You for posting through some bills.

I was dumbstruck…. the first time I answered the door to him, he made no eye contact, groaned and grumped and then the other day, he smiled, looked me right in the eye, told me to have a nice day and I stood there with my face in total shock.

So, today, I had to call my internet provider, and the person I spoke to, was in a call centre in Mumbai…. And at first I was getting all angry and demanding. It wasn’t working. So I thought of the Postman Story and thought I’d try ‘something different’ just like my Mum did. So I thanked him for trying to sort it out for me, and in the end he admitted the company were in the wrong, they’d supplied me a faulty router and he was mailing one out to me right there and then FREE of charge (they normally charge). I thanked him for his help and told him to have a good day, and he said thank you, and seemed happier to have helped me.

My eagerness to share this with you is because I want you to know that when either you are grumpy or someone around you is grumpy or even if you are facing a problem that is causing you pain, try saying the magic words and watch your life change.
Please feel free to share this post and help as many people change their lives with 2 very simple, very basic, and very powerful words.

THANK YOU

thank you

Clean Up Your Inner House & Let Your Inner Light Shine

I had to jump on here to share with you a light beam from within me today. If you’ve watched my recent Vlog (you can access it by reading my last post here and clicking on the link to take you through to my YouTube channel) then you will be aware of how I’m on a 30 day Feeling & Forgiving Sadhana (spiritual practice) after recently reaching a point where I said “ENOUGH! Something HAS to change within me. There has to be a better way”.

So today I woke up and said my morning prayer from A Course in Miracles

“Where would you have me go? What would you have me do? What would you have me say, and to whom?”

And I knew that even if I had a general plan for my day, I would be guided to all sorts of amazing and miraculous moments that would help me transform myself. And I ended up cleaning the bathroom. I always clean the bathroom in a particular way and in a certain direction around the room (Is this just me?) but today I totally switched things up. I did the complete opposite and focused on what I was doing in the moment. So for example, instead of whilst cleaning the tiles in the shower thinking about the other side of the room, I remained completely focused on just cleaning the tiles in the shower. I didn’t even think about cleaning the actual shower. Just the tiles. Just in the moment. I found that there was no sense of overwhelming dread of the sheer task ahead of me, I enjoyed the moment and I allowed the moment to unfold.

I was actually listening to a metaphysical lecture on my phone as I cleaned the bathroom and the true miracle didn’t happen until AFTER I’d finished cleaning the bathroom. But I believe that each step I took today cleaning that one room in my house led me to the miracle.

I was sitting in my bedroom listening to last few moments of the lecture and then I head two people who had called in to the speaker and although their story was different to mine, I recognised the pain, discomfort and desire to heal. One was a 14 year old girl who wanted to desperately change after her mom guided her to be in this place for the show, and the other was a woman who was suffering from an eating disorder but felt that although she could recognise the messages everyone else was getting, she couldn’t accept them for herself.

And I began to cry. I fully empathise with these two ladies, and I send them love, but I wasn’t crying for them. I was crying for me. I felt that 14 year old girl within me who had had her life ripped apart when people who were assumed to be her friends suddenly snapped and turned against her and then proceeded to threaten to kill her for no apparent reason. I cried for that 14 year old girl who tried to fight back by staying poised and doing the right thing, but in the end was forced to leave school and be homeschooled for 2 years. I cried for the girl who at 16 lost her father to cancer and had to grow up overnight because she put that demand on herself – to be an adult not a child. I cried for the woman in me who turned to food to comfort herself into feeling better about who she was.

And then I heard two words come out of my mouth amidst the tears and sobs – “I’m Sorry!”

In that moment I realised that this overwhelming sense of anger within me that caused me stress and to become overweight and unhappy was the desire to forgive myself for not speaking up for myself, for not honouring that voice within me, for not believing in myself and all I can do. And I told myself how sorry I am for letting myself down. And I vowed that I have my own back now. That 14 year old girl within me – I got it covered. I am all she needs to be strong, be happy and be enough in this world.

On day 13 of my 30 day Feeling & Forgiving practice, I forgave myself.

So my desire and question to you now is;

How can you forgive yourself today for something that is holding you back? How can you clean up your inner house and let your inner light shine? Please feel free to leave a comment below

Feeling & Forgiving ~ My Way to Happiness

TPhoto_00009

I haven’t always looked so happy – not authentically at least. I am very good at ‘putting a brave face on’ for the world to see but not very good at sharing my pain and sadness. Until now. But please bear with me here as I’m not going to blog about pain and sadness but rather share with you my new tools for creating more happiness in my life.

If you find yourself giving yourself the ‘You aren’t good enough’ speech throughout your day, it could be massively impacting upon your life and could be the potential huge block that’s preventing you from moving forward. I discovered my own self talk 11 days ago and since then have been on a 30 day Feeling and Forgiving journey.

Watch here as I share with you how I went from feeling crappy to happy, and share with you one of my *Light Within* meditations.

I would love to hear from you now, how has this video served you? Are you going to join me on my 30 Day Feeling & Forgiving Sadhana? Maybe you want to tell me about your feelings whilst watching this video, or release some forgiveness below.

Dreaming with the Angels

Angel Dreams by Doreen and Melissa Virtue

Published by Hay House UK

Spiritual dreams have always held a special place in my heart after having so many of them myself. From discovering my past life in Ancient Egypt as an apprentice who worked with the embalming of deceased loved ones, visiting my grandparents in the spiritual home in heaven, travelling with my father in heaven as I witnessed the preparation for the passing of a celebrity that dad & I used to watch on TV when I was a little girl, to having warning dreams that came true. I’ve encountered so many Angel Dreams that I was thrilled that my favourite Angel Expert had co-written a book about this very topic.

Doreen and Melissa had previously teamed up to bring us the wonderful Angel Dreams oracle cards, of which this book is a helpful companion. Detailing the various types of angel dreams that we may encounter, Doreen and Melissa back up their research and findings with case studies and accounts from real people like you and I who have experienced these comforting dreams.

Included in the book are chapters on;

Common Dream Meanings

Flying and Falling Dreams

Dream Visitations from our Loved Ones in Heaven

Past Life Dreams

Angel Dreams

For anyone interested in dreams and the many ways in which our consciousness expands during our dreamtime, this book is an absolute must have. It’s a very handy and portable size, which would fit neatly next to the bed. A lovely book to read and I’m thrilled I got the chance to read and review it here on my coaching blog, as lots of my clients who are looking for direction in life, come to me after the loss of a loved one, or a spiritual encounter.

Percolate Journal Week 4 ~ Grow From Bean To Brew

7bf6d77f6ac36cc4fb5c432094e285a5For some unknown technical reason (or gremlin) last week this journal didn’t publish, and I haven’t been able to publish it since. So I’ve spent an additional week working with Percolate Point #4 “Grow from Bean to Brew” and I feel I’ve grown because of it. Each week I find myself taking that little step forward, another move towards living my life on  my terms as I study Percolate.

Growing from bean to brew is about making those moments count. Moments affect our entire lives; “The long-term effect of a moment can transform your life”. I’ve really been working on making my moments count, and making those transformational memory moments.

This week, I’ve been percolating on something that I used to do throughout my childhood – dreaming of my future. I would spend time vividly visualising what I was going to be doing, looking like, being and experiencing “When I grow up”. I used to ‘see’ myself working hard, or rather studying hard. The thought of myself being surrounded by textbooks, learning material and studying, writing assignments and achieving is the BIGGEST motivating image I have. I am what some would call a NERD, and you know what? I’m proud to be a self confessed nerd – or academic. As I write this post, I’ve received course materials from The Open University to study over the summer towards my degree, and I’ve almost completed a CPD course, and I’ve made enquiries into furthering and completing a course of study I began over 7 years ago.

The art of day dreaming or focusing on your future, thinking; “What may happen?” or “What could happen?” is something Elizabeth covered in this Percolate Point, and I love that she encourages the reader to not leave these thinking patterns in our childhood, but rather bring them into the present moment as adults;

That futurist pattern of paying attention to your passion, whether as a child or an adult, gives these moments meaning and purpose.

We were encouraged to make a “Small Change Action Plan” this week that involved percolating on 3 questions that can literally transform your life. It’s important that when you begin making changes in your life that you do as my Dad used to say;

“Do one thing at a time and do it properly”

If we try to focus on more than one change we can become overwhelmed, bored, lose interest and motivation and then none of those changes happen. So the first question was

What is one small change you’re ready to make?

For me, this began as the re-organising of my time to allow more time for the things I want to do; namely at this point study and further my education. There were under current reasons that added to this one small change such as; supporting myself first, and putting my own desires ahead of the expectations others had of me.

Which led me on to answering question two;

How are you going to implement that one small change?

I had to prioritise my “to do list”, which means in all reality, less time coaching, and blogging. This freed up so much time for me that in one week I completed a 5 module CPD course, began my university study, maintained my workout regime and spent quality time with friends and family.

Finally;

What big changes do you think this one small change will help yield?

This was easy for me. I will have better life fulfilment, career satisfaction, an increase in my self worth, and I will be achieving my childhood dream.

As if that wasn’t transforming enough for me, Elizabeth introduced me to a tool that has become almost like a “I dare you to…” tac-tic that I’m using on myself to propel myself in the direction I want to be heading. GBMs are my new best friend and if you follow me on Twitter you may have read my tweets about my taking GBMs. GBMs by the way are Gutsy Ballsy Moves. They are those risks you take that send you in a new direction. I’ve taken around 4 or 5 in the past 2 weeks, which have transformed my direction, giving me excellent foundations. What GBM can you take to propel you into living a life of your terms?

So, take some time this coming week and see if you can take some GBMs (We’d love to know what GBMs you take!) and answer the 3 questions above. You may just Percolate yourself some change.

You can head to Amazon US or Amazon UK to Pre-order your copy if this journal share has Percolated you.

Percolate Journal Week 3 ~ Create Your Own Best Blend

9b4f210c515dde17fcfe856897925679

My week with Percolate Journal was a mellow week, a lot of inner contemplation, and acceptance of where I am right now and where I want to be heading. I knew from the title this week that I would be thinking about how to create my life and what steps I could take to brew my life up.

Creating Your Own best Blend in both your life and the book is all about getting yourself to take the risk to make your life how you want it to be. That can be hard at times, especially when you are very aware of the expectations that others have of you.

Many of us live our lives based on what our parents, our friends even our colleagues expect of us and we stick to those guidelines, scared of colouring outside of the lines just so that we don’t upset others and we keep the peace. But what if we dared to colour outside of the lines, and we did what we wanted to expect of ourselves, and we ruffled a few feathers in our inner circle of associates, and that finally led us to find the peace within ourselves? Would you be willing to percolate on that for a week or more?

To kick you off, I’m going t share the question that Elizabeth asked;

What inspires and motivates you?

Take some time and really allow the ideas to swirl around your inner teacup and make a list. You may be surprised by some of the things that you list, but that’s OK, because it means we’re peeling the layers of ourselves, shrugging off the expectations others have of us and discovering what makes us truly happy. Some of the things that were on my list included;

  • Sunshine & Warmth
  • Wearing nice clothes
  • Reading a Novel
  • Reading a Motivational Book
  • My Vision of my Future life with a husband & children
  • Success – the feeling of it
  • Providing for my family
  • Radiant health
  • Successful Slimmers

In order to make a genuine change, you have to have consistency and discipline because these both come from motivation.

Being consistent, and having the discipline to carry out what you planned on doing from what motivated you in the first place is really important, and to put this into a real life scenario, I had to apply this to my health. Due to a diagnosis towards the end of the year from being hospitalised I had to make massive changes. I have had to remain consistent and be really disciplined with myself with regards to cutting out certain foods. This started a massive health kick for me and this year I’ve stepped it up a gear to lose weight. My motivation for losing weight is the improvement of my health, being able to wear smaller sized clothes, feeling more confident in myself and looking good. So I’ve gone from struggling to do 10 minutes of high intensity workouts to enjoying an hour of cardio workout. I find myself missing my workout if for some reason I don’t do it. In 2 weeks, I lost 5lbs from being disciplined and consistent.

So you see, that to make a change in your life, you need consistency, discipline and motivation. But you also need to make a commitment – to yourself, so you need to ask yourself 4 questions.

  1. What is your commitment to yourself?
  2. What is your key motivation?
  3. Will making this change help you have a better life?
  4. Do you believe you deserve it?

Following these 4 questions, Elizabeth asks that you make a list in your percolate journal of 10 things that you want to do regardless of whether or not you ruffle those feathers belonging to others. I found this exercise so inspiring as I uncovered dreams, aspirations and goals of mine that had been hidden for a while – I just need to build the evidence to motivate me, so that I can be consistent, and disciplined in my action plan to achieving them now. So, why not try that exercise yourself, see what you come up with – and remember not to make those things that will please others – this is about pleasing yourself.

Stick to your decision, even if it messes with others. It’s YOUR choice.

You have to find what works for you and stick to it. Don’t give up, keep on trying different things, different techniques until you find the one that sticks and makes you seriously ramp up the effort to achieving those dreams and goals. Make your life YOURS and Create Your Own Best Blend of Life.

I look forward to sharing the next step in the Percolate Process with you.
